Gayle T. Lang, Director
has been dancing since the tiny age of two. At age seven, Gayle won her first title as Dance Masters of America Petite Miss Dance of NYC. Miss Gayle is no stranger to the competition circuit. As a competitor, she has received over 350 titles and first place awards at regional and national levels in classical ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz and acrobatics. Lang was also a finalist in the Miss Vermont/Miss America Pageant. One of her most memorable wins includes a First Place Gold Medal in Ballet/Lyrical at Dance Educators of America National Competition held at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. As a judge for many years, she is well known for her positive criticism and the competitors love taking her convention classes. She is currently on faculty at Castleton State College as a Professor/Teacher in the Dance Department.
Gayle has studied with some fabulous instructors from the NYC Ballet, Boston Ballet, along with Kay Welch, Frank Hatchett, Charles Kelley, Douglas Wassell, David Howard, Patricia McBride, Gregory Hines, Gus Giordano and many more! Lang became a professional at a young age. At eight, she was “discovered” in NYC by a talent agent. After doing an audition screen test, she was offered the lead role in a major motion picture filmed in Europe. Gayle is considered a “triple threat” in the entertainment world (dancer, singer, & actress). She’s performed at Busch Gardens as well as toured with them during the off season. She continued on to Opryland USA, Nashville, TN again a dancer/singer and was hired by Opryland Talent Agency to do TV commercials (shown nationwide), photo shoots, advertisements and industrials performing with such legends as Barbara & Louise Mandrell. Lang performed at the Grand Ole’ Opry with Lee Greenwood, Roy Acuff, Porter Wagner and more. As a teacher for over 20 years, Miss Gayle’s experience, professionalism and quality of teaching has produced wonderful dancers, in which some have gone on to Broadway, major ballet companies, movies including “Center Stage” & winning top awards in many prestigious dance competitions. Most recently, she received overall high score choreography award and first place overall Excellence Teacher of the Year 2004 award. Her goals are to give each student proper training, the opportunity to learn, grow and nurture into wonderful students, and if they choose, beautifully trained dancers. Miss Gayle teaches Pointe, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Acrobatics, Private Lessons and is the Director and Choreographer of The Vermont Junior & Senior Dance Team and the Community Performance Group.
